Solar Inspection Software FAQs
Real answers to the questions buyers ask before and after choosing MapperX — supported drones, data upload, credit rules, IEC 62446-3 accreditation, reporting and support.
What is MapperX?
MapperX is a solar panel inspection software that analyses drone-captured radiometric thermal imagery with AI to detect module-level faults in PV plants. Inspection, asset management and IEC 62446-3 compliant reporting run in a single platform, built only for solar. See the Platform page for the full workflow.
How does MapperX turn drone data into results?
In three steps: drones capture radiometric thermal data of the plant, MapperX AI detects and classifies the anomaly types defined under IEC 62446, and the platform generates a prioritised, shareable inspection report. No third-party analysis tools are needed.
Which drones are compatible with MapperX?
MapperX supports the DJI Mavic 3T, DJI Matrice 30T, DJI Matrice 4T and DJI Matrice 300 with H20T or H30T payloads. For the current list and flight instructions, see the help center.
What thermal data format does MapperX require?
MapperX requires radiometric thermal imagery — thermal photos that store a temperature value in every pixel, such as the radiometric JPEG (R-JPEG) files produced by the supported DJI thermal cameras.
How do I upload flight data to MapperX?
You upload flight imagery directly in the browser: create the plant in MapperX, start a new inspection and upload the radiometric thermal images from the flight; analysis starts automatically after upload.
How long does the analysis take?
Analysis runs autonomously after upload; a 10 MW plant is typically analysed in about 15 minutes.
How do MapperX credits work?
Each analysis consumes credits from a prepaid package, and every credit stays valid for 12 months from purchase. Packages and current prices are on the Pricing page.
Can I use one credit package across multiple plants or customers?
Yes. Credits are not locked to a single site — you can spend the same package across different plants, projects and customers during the 12-month validity period.
Can I add credits during the year?
Yes. You can top up your credit balance at any time; you don't need to wait for renewal or buy a new package tier.
Is MapperX accredited under IEC 62446-3?
Yes. MapperX is the first IEC 62446-3 accredited solar inspection platform, and its thermographic inspections and reports follow the requirements of the standard.
What is included in a MapperX inspection report?
Reports are IEC 62446 compliant and include detected anomaly types with their classification, temperature (ΔT) data, severity-based prioritisation and the location of each fault on the plant layout. You can filter the content and export branded PDF reports with your own logo.
Which languages does MapperX support?
The platform interface and PDF reports are available in 11+ languages: Türkçe, English, Deutsch, Français, Español, Chinese (中文), Japanese (日本語), Português, Bahasa Indonesia, Italiano and Nederlands.
How do I get support?
Documentation and flight guides live in the help center, and you can reach the team at [email protected]; we reply within 24 hours.
Can I see MapperX in action before buying?
Yes. You can explore a demo of a real solar plant inspection inside the platform and navigate the analysis and reports yourself — contact us to get started.
